This
first Starcross History badge depicts The Swan of the Exe, which was a
Victorian folly; a gold and ivory yacht in the form of a swan. She was
designed by Captain George Peacock, who lived in Regent House on The
Strand in Starcross. She was built in Dixon's Yard at Exmouth, and
launched from there in 1860. Moored by Starcross Pier, she survived
until the 1960s; last serving as a summerhouse in the garden of Regent House.
